How to Delete Your Account

Follow these steps to permanently delete your ECHO account and all associated data.

Important Warning

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data, including profile information, travel history, contacts, and notifications will be permanently deleted.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Open the ECHO App

Launch the ECHO mobile app on your device.

Log In to Your Account

Enter your credentials (Student ID and password) to log in to your account.

Navigate to Profile Tab

Tap on the Profile tab located at the bottom right corner of the app (or the rightmost profile icon on the bottom navigation bar).

The Profile tab is typically the rightmost icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Select "More"

In the Profile screen, look for and tap on the "More" option or menu.

Choose "Delete Account"

From the More menu, select "Delete Account" option.

Verify Your Credentials

For security purposes, you will be asked to verify your identity by entering your password.

This verification step ensures that only you can delete your account.

Confirm Deletion

Review the warning message and confirm that you want to permanently delete your account.

What Happens After Deletion?

Data That Will Be Deleted:

  • Your account will be permanently deactivated
  • All your profile information (name, contact, preferences) will be removed
  • Your schedule and availability information will be deleted
  • All notifications and active nudge requests will be removed
  • Your contact list and connections will be deleted
  • You will no longer receive any notifications from ECHO
  • You can create a new account later if you wish, but your previous data will not be restored

Data Retained for Safety & Accountability:

For student safety and accountability purposes, we retain minimal information even after account deletion:

  • Student ID: Retained for accountability and safety reporting
  • Account deletion timestamp: Record of when the account was deleted
  • Minimal travel connection records: Basic information about who traveled with whom (for incident reporting)

Why is this necessary? If an incident occurs during travel, we need to be able to identify who was involved for safety reporting and legal compliance purposes. This prevents students from deleting their accounts to escape accountability for incidents. This information is only accessed in case of safety incidents or legal requirements.
